Series consists of files pertaining to the Archives of Ontario's Task Force on Intellectual Controls whose purpose was to review intellectual control practices and standards for the Archives' holdings, particularly in the area of archival description. Files include minutes of the meetings of the Task Force and its three special committees; preliminary and final reports; internal memoranda and correspondence with other archives and archival organizations regarding intellectual controls; drafts of the Standardized Terminology List, the Name Authority Manual, and the Manual of Archival Policies and Procedures; documentation and reports pertaining to a survey of institutional practices; and documentation regarding initiatives in the area of intellectual controls in other archival institutions and organizations.
